Charities – Trust in God but tie your camel

Trust in God but tie your camel first

It is one of my favourite sayings, and means to me that we always need to be actical. This is certainly true if you are running a . You have naturally high ideals and powerful aims and objectives, but you need actical steps to reach them and find support where you can.

There is a great story that amplifies this:

The Flood

It was raining for days and days, and a terrible flood had come over the land. The waters rose so high that one man was forced to climb onto the roof of his house.

As the waters rose higher and higher, a manna raft appeared, and told him to get in. “No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord; I trust in God, God will save me.” So the man on the raft went away. The man on the roof ayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and suddenly a woman in a rowing boat appeared. “Climb in!” shouted the woman in the boat, “you are saved.” “No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord; I trust in God, the Lord will save me.” So the woman in the rowing boat went away. The man on the roof ayed for God to save him.

The waters continued to rise. And an amazing ark appeared and a bearded old man and a lot of animals leant over the side hand Noah threw a rope to the man but he would not take it “No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord; I trust in God. the Lord will save me.” So Noah went away. The man on the roof ayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and eventually they rose so high that the man on the roof was washed away, and alas, the poor man drowned.

Upon arriving in heaven, the man marched straight over to God. “Heavenly Father,” he said, “I had faith in you, I ayed to you to save me, and yet you did nothing. Why?” God gave him a puzzled look, and replied “I sent you a raft, a boat and and Noah and his Ark, what more did you expect?”
